Hotel Review: Hotel Regina, Madrid

On a trip to the northeastern provinces of Spain, we wanted to take a short excursion up to Mardrid to see a few notable attractions.  We booked just one night at the Hotel Regina because Madrid was a good driving distance away from the coastal timeshare we had for the rest of the trip (TripAdvisor).  It gave us the opportunity to see more on the way to Madrid and stay longer in town.  Check out what we saw in Madrid while we were on the trip.

Accommodations

Hotel Room

I chose this lovely hotel because of its central location to most of the attractions we planned to visit the one day we were spending in Madrid.  And it ended up being perfect.  The Hotel Regina opened over a hundred years ago in 1918, but is very modern on the inside.  The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was updated and luxurious.  Our room was reserved as a triple room (three twin beds) to accommodate me, my sister, and her friend.  The beds ended up being more like double beds in size (€185.00/night).  Free Wifi comes with the room.

Food

Hotel Cafe

Breakfast can be purchased in the hotel café and it was a wonderful spread.  They had much more than the usual continental breakfast, including many hot food choices as well.

Near By

The Royal Palace of Madrid, Almudena Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, the Oldest Restaurant in the World (Restaurante Sobrino de Botin), and Museo Nacional del Prado all were in walking distance for us from the Hotel Regina.

Transportation

We easily found parking below the street in front of the Hotel Regina at €26/overnight.  And the hotel was only 100 meters away from the famous Puerta del Sol, on Alcalá Street next to the Seville metro station, but because of the hotel’s central location, we could walk everywhere we wanted to go.
